I am Gigi, a Master of Psychology student at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I am blessed to have the opportunity to study this program at my alma mater and join MAKLAB.

I was assessed to have hearing loss when I was a kid. Since then, I have been studying in mainstream schools under the scheme of integrated education for students with special educational needs. Even with the generous support from my family and teachers, it was hard to overcome the barriers of hearing loss in the course of my growing up.

My past experience has prompted me to support the minority in society, especially the underprivileged. I was a volunteer at Mother’s Choice to care for children waiting for adoption. I am currently an online volunteer counsellor at Open Up to provide immediate emotional support to youth and young adults.

My research interest lies in the relationship between disability and stigma, stigma reduction and the psychological well-being of social minorities.

Together, we can build a fair, diverse and truly inclusive society.
