Stigma and mental health of social minorities, especially on sexual minorities 

 

Bio

Olivia obtained her B.S.Sc in Psychology and M.S.Sc in Clinical Psychology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She had been showing her interest in enhancing psychological well-being of social minorities since she joined the lab in 2006. She was actively involved in research about sexual minorities and made presentations at overseas conferences, namely the 2nd Asian Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Conference and the 5th World Congress of Cognitive and Behavior Therapy, in 2007 and 2008 respectively. She also finished her two theses about stigma on sexual minorities under the supervision of Professor Winnie Mak. She is now working as a clinical psychologist to serve another group of social minorities – children with special needs. She offers psychological assessment and intervention to the children and their family, and promotes public awareness on stigma against them.
