Phoenix Mo
Phoenix completed her undergraduate degree in Social Science from the University of Hong Kong, majoring in Psychology. After graduation, she worked as a Research Assistant at Prof. Mak’s lab, where she was involved in research examining the role of stigma on health and quality of life for people with different health conditions (e.g. HIV/AIDS, mental illness). She was then awarded with the Universitas 21 scholarship from the University of Nottingham, UK, where she completed her master degree in Health Psychology. She continued her PhD study at the University after being awarded with the Overseas Research Student (ORS) scholarship. Her Ph.D. research focused on examining the empowering processes and effects of online support group participation for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. During the final year of her Ph.D. Phoenix also worked on a National Institute of Health Research (UK) - funded project examining the role of online patient experience as a resource for choice and decision making in health care at the Northumbria University, UK. Throughout the years when she was studying and working in the UK, Phoenix continued to collaborate closely with Prof. Mak on several projects (e.g., health promoting and help-seeking behaviors of community adults, treatment adherence of people living with HIV/AIDS), which culminated into a number of publications. Currently Phoenix works as a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Public Health and Primary Care at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
