Eddie Chong

Research Interests

Eddie Chong’s research interests are in issues related to stigmatized groups across the lifespan and their intersectionality of identities (particularly among lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals). He is also interested in topics related to discrimination, reconciliation, mindfulness, and their relationships with cultivation of peace and health.

Bio

Eddie received his B.S.Sc. in Psychology from CUHK in 2009. Envisioning a just society, free of prejudice and discrimination, Eddie joined the lab in 2007 and finished his undergraduate thesis on same-sex intimate partner violence (SSIPV) under Dr. Mak’s supervision. The study attempted to estimate the prevalence rates and risk and protective factors of SSIPV in Hong Kong. Help-seeking intentions and psychological well-being of potential victims were also explored.

Upon graduation, he worked as a research assistant at the lab for Dr. Mak’s funded project on understanding the physical health needs among people with mental illness in the Hong Kong community.
